Service Description

As organizations face increasing pressure to move faster and deliver more, traditional leadership models built on constant capacity are showing their limits. This session explores how disability, particularly invisible disability, challenges conventional assumptions about productivity, presence, and performance, and how leaders can respond through better system design rather than individual resilience. Drawing on lived experience recovering from a major health event, occupational therapy principles, and the practical use of AI as an accessibility tool, this talk reframes leadership as an act of design. Attendees will learn how AI can reduce cognitive load and support sustainable performance, how leaders can proactively respond to external pressures without sacrificing psychological safety, and how allyship can be embedded into everyday leadership practices without requiring disclosure. In fact, research from Google’s Project Aristotle found that psychological safety was the single most important factor in high-performing teams. Not talent or experience; safety. This session offers leaders practical strategies to build more adaptive, inclusive, and high-performing workplaces, where people can continue to contribute even when capacity changes. Participants will: Reevaluate leadership assumptions around capacity, productivity, and performance. Understand how AI can function as an accessibility and performance-enabling tool. Learn strategies for responding to pressure without driving burnout or attrition. Identify leadership behaviors that support employees with invisible disabilities. Leave with concrete actions to design more sustainable ways of working. Key Takeaways: 1) Leadership Is System Design, Not Personal Endurance: Learn how occupational therapy principles can inform leadership models that support fluctuating capacity and long-term effectiveness. 2) AI as an Accessibility and Performance Tool: Understand how AI can reduce cognitive load, protect judgment, and enable sustained contribution, particularly for employees with invisible disabilities. 3) Responding to Pressure Without Breaking People: Gain leadership strategies to manage urgency and expectations while preserving trust, engagement, and retention.
